1 - After all... What is Astrology?
Astrology (from the Greek astron, "astros", "stars", "celestial bodies", and logos, "word", "study") is the science according to which the relative positions of bodies celestials can provide information about personality, human relationships and others. worldly affairs. Can be used as a tool for defining personalities human beings. Carl Jung in his studies called this concept also synchronicity and he developed several studies about it.
2 - Historical Summary
The earliest records suggest that astrology arose in the third millennium BC. Is it over there played an important role in shaping many cultures and its influence is found in the Sumerian, Akkadian, Babylonian and other civilizations, in ancient astronomy, in the Vedas Indians, in the Bible and in various references throughout history. In fact, there are studies and research throughout history that says the bible itself is an allegory astrological, containing stories, symbols and situations that make full reference to the passages through the astrological ages.
Until the Modern Era, astrology and astronomy were indistinguishable. Astronomy began to gradually diverge from astrology since the time of Ptolemy and this separation culminated in the 18th century with the official removal of astrology from the university environment. only in the century XX is that Astrology returned to some universities - namely in the USA - after to develop in what is now called Modern - or contemporary - Astrology.
For centuries, Astrology was based on the observation of the stars and the recording of their movements. More recently astrologers have used data collected by astronomers and organized in tables called ephemeris, which show the positions of the celestial bodies exactly. The main tool of Astrology is the Birth Chart (also known as such as natal chart, natal chart, astrological chart...). This chart is a diagram two-dimensional that represents the position of the celestial bodies seen from a given location, which can vary from the center of the Earth, to its surface and even having the Sun as a point central. The interpretation of the map takes into account:
- the position of these bodies in relation to the constellations / signs of the zodiac;
- the calculation of astrological dignities;
- the absolute and relative position of these bodies within one of the house systems
astrological;
- astrological aspects: trigonometric relationship of celestial bodies to each other.
There are, however, differences in the way these basic supports are used in different traditions, which developed, by observing the sky, one or another type of calendar. THE primary function of these calendars was to predict cyclical events on which the human survival, such as the arrival of rains, cold or wild herds. This Empirical knowledge was the basis for varied classifications of celestial bodies.
Over time, Astrology has left its mark on language. "Influenza", the old name given to the flu, came the attribution by doctors of planetary causes to the disease. "Disaster" comes from the Latin 'dis aster' (bad star). the days of the week in several languages are also references and tributes to the stars (sunday = day of the sun | monday = moon day = moon day | etc.).
Although Western Astrology uses almost exclusively the tropical zodiac, the Hindu astrology uses the sidereal zodiac, which is closer to the astronomical position of the stars in the sky, but following the same way of dividing the sky as the Tropical.
3 - What are signs?
It must be taken into account that astrology uses symbols that try to formalize and facilitate the interpretations of cosmic forces that, just like the seasons of the year, interact in parallel with different situations and events on earth, including our existence.
4 - How can the placement of planets influence my personality?
There is still no consensus on how astrology works and many theories already were debated. Over the course of history, we see different explanations emerging. Saint Albert the Great thought that although the stars cannot influence the soul human, influence the human body and will. Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa von Nettesheim (1486-1535) saw the universe as the Unus Mundus, where what happens in the world celestial reaches the phenomenal world, mediated by the sphere of celestial bodies. In this conception, the relationship between the sphere of celestial bodies and the human sphere is not that of causality, but analogy or synchronicity.
Biologically oriented astrologers seek explanation in biological rhythms and cycles, like circadians and lunars. John Addey, English astrologer, performed several statistical surveys in search of proof of astrological concepts, such as almost a thousand nonagenarians and the Sun-Saturn relationship. He thus discovered the meaning of the harmonic relationships between cosmic periods. Another conception is that the influence occurs through the variety of cosmic rays that reach our planet. Ebertin is one of the defenders of this hypothesis.
A different way of approach is that of synchronicity, a concept expressed by Carl Gustav Jung. Jung studied a large number of birth charts of couples, and assumed that there would be interesting relationships between the suns and moons of spouses.
And many others. In short, there are several arguments for and against astrology and, as said before, there is still no concrete answer about its functioning. Perhaps it exists as a world in itself and that, the moment its gears are exposed, the universe will try to change it. Even so, scholars and curious agree that there are many coincidences and information to be analyzed and taken into consideration within the astrological scope, especially with regard to the analysis of human personalities.
5 - What is a Birth Chart?
6 - Why is my birth time necessary to know my Birth Chart?
7 - Can astrology predict the future?
8 - Why are so many horoscopes so simple and often don't work?
9 - How can astrology help in different aspects of my life?
This in itself is a great help to all who are taking their steps towards a mental and spiritual evolution, as well as for those who simply need to stimulate your self-knowledge and go deeper into finding out about your role in the universe.
Verifying the veracity of astrology and being able to apply its answers in everyday life is, in the At least, think and reflect on something more ethereal, abstract and grandiose, and that, in our current world, steeped in materialism and seductive and addictive sensory stimuli that often escape our control filter, it can be considered as a large advantage.
10 - I have arguments and doubts that I would like to discuss. Where can I do this?
Keep in mind that the information described on your birth chart, although comprehensive, are intended only to provide a moderate approximation of astrology. and are formulated assuming that the place, date and time of your birth are informed correctly. Be aware that even this small difference can invalidate part of the interpretations - especially the positions of houses and the rising sign.
It is also important to consider that many of the interpretations may indicate "what you were" rather than "what you are", as they all influences and trends follow the dynamics of consciousness and are subject to evolution from according to your life experience over the years.
Although the system was created and improved from a carefully, there may eventually be contradictions between one aspect and the other, as the interpretation of a birth chart is something very subjective and often analogical, requiring of a sensibility that is still far beyond computers. Only a skilled astrologer can perceive all the nuances of the crossings, aspects, potentials and refinements between the signs, planets and houses, translating information especially accurately.
